June 12, 2011

This morning was beyond glorious. I woke up to a view of a quaint Parisian street and delicious espresso and chocolate croissants. Ahhh. Is this real life? Nope. Still don't think so. First stop this morning was a trip to Monmartre where we all did a walking tour with Paris Walks. Fabulous! Saw Picasso's and Van Gogh's apartments , along with many creperies, boutiques , statues and just about everything else that you would ever dream to see. For lunch , I had a Grand Marnier & Nutella Crepe. Uhm, can we say I died and went to heaven? Actually I didn't . I died, went to heaven, then came back to life to be able to go see the eiffel tower lit up at night. Wait, I'm getting ahead of myself here. Okay. First off, the Metro is extremely clean and pristine. I was VERY impressed. We're all used to the crappy MTA NYC Subway & Bus System. I guess you really can't compare Europe to NY, no matter how wonderful NYC life may be. I have to admit, I am feeling a little bit like a dumb American. I am trying to get more acclimated, but I definitely realize how obnoxious we are compared to the chic French cafe-goers. I also don't understand why, but I'm getting my languages a little confused. I know that merci means thank you and bonjour means hello and au reviour means goodbye. However, I've been saying grazie as thank you ( helllooooo wrong country for that one, hun. ) and bonjour for goodbye. I feel like smacking myself. I really wish we learned other languages at younger ages. Thank goodness for our sake most locals here know ample English to help our sorry asses be the perfect American tourists.

One thing that is making me extremely happy is the wine and dessert & frommage. Oh, and the Irish Coffee, which is dumb since we're in France. We are finding the most darling cafes and just sitting there for hours gabbing about life. I love this trip. None of us knew each other previously and all basically met on the trip. We are all getting along so perfectly, and we're talking like we've known each other for years. We got each other's back , and its such a comforting feeling.

So far, my experiences are magical, and its only the second day. The English language needs to come up with more words to express sheer, pure happiness. I haven't been this happy I don't think ever in my life. Its so nice to sit back and take it all in, and realize that the reason why I am here is because I earned it. That is the most satisfying feeling .
